More Time, More Support, to Save Cahuenga Peak FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 14, 2010 LOS ANGELES - The Trust for Public Land (TPL) and Los Angeles City Council Member Tom LaBonge today announced they have 16 more days and a $500,000 challenge grant to raise the final $1 million needed to save the view of the famous Hollywood Sign by preserving 138 acres of land behind the sign. PRESS RELEASE March 11, 2010 HOLLYWOOD TO HELP PRESERVE LAND AROUND HOLLYWOOD SIGN LOS ANGELES - The Trust for Public Land (TPL) announced today that donations totaling $3.1 million on behalf of major studios and a number of other Hollywood leaders have been made to help buy the land at Cahuenga Peak and preserve the view of the famous Hollywood Sign. The contributions bring to $9.45 million the total amount raised, said TPL President Will Rogers. It was a no-brainer. After all, Turner Classic Movies (TCM) and the Campaign to Save Cahuenga Peak go together like Bogey and Bacall, Tracey and Hepburn, and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Just in time for the TMC Classic Film Festival, which celebrates Hollywood's history, the historic match was formalized.
